Listed and period property, handled properly.
Much of Canterbury’s older housing still has cast iron guttering, or sits somewhere a plastic replacement would look wrong. Where the building calls for it, we fit genuine cast iron at £100–£200 per metre. Where the look matters more than the material, cast-iron-effect at £50–£100 per metre is very hard to tell apart from the street. If your property is listed or in a conservation area, check with the council before any profile is changed — and if we think a job needs consent, we will tell you before we start, not after.
Heavy leaf fall means clearing twice a year.
Canterbury is far greener than the coastal towns, and it is the trees that fill its gutters. Homes near mature trees — around St Dunstan’s, Harbledown and Hales Place especially — are best cleared twice a year: once in late autumn when the leaves are down, and again in spring to clear what the winter left behind. For most other homes, once a year is enough.
